 Jeff
Hobson is one of the most in-demand comedy magicians working
today. His refreshing and clever mix of comedy and magic has
brought him back for repeat performances all over the world.
Hobson has won numerous awards for his skills. Among the most
recent is his "Best Comedy Magic" award given by the
International Magic Awards Association as well as an award of
"Best Magic Review" by the World Magic Awards for his role as
star and producer of the critically acclaimed "Carnival of
Wonders" show at the Reno Hilton Hotel and Casino in Reno,
Nevada.
Jeff's television appearances include HBO, Showtime's Comedy
Club Network, Fox Family's "Masters of Illusion," NBC's "Magic
on the Edge," as well as Thames Television's "Magic Comedy
Strip," a 16-week television series in England.
Jeff is a favorite entertainer to many of the Fortune 500
companies. He has an uncanny ability to "break the ice" and
allow everyone to enjoy themselves with his program of audience
participation, comedy, magic and even fire eating! During his
performance, Hobson tip-toes his way throughout the audience
teasing the crowd. As his finale, Hobson returns a dozen
wristwatches that were "stolen" during the show to the surprise,
laughter - and often times - shock of the audience members!
Jeff Hobson was serious about his magic as he grew up in
Detroit, Michigan. Rigorous practice was a ritual, and by age
12, he was routinely winning national magic competitions. Then,
at age 17, when he was booked to perform his manipulation act at
Boblo Island, an amusement park that could only be reached by a
cruise on the lake, things changed.
He reached the island, but forgot to unload his equipment. The
Boblo boat sailed away with his act. As a result, Jeff had to
improvise, utilizing only a simple prop or two and his innate
sense of humor. It was a hit, and Hobson has focused on comedy
magic since that day.
Before conquering casinos with his hilarious hocus pocus, Hobson
performed corporate shows for most of the Fortune 500 companies.
He was featured on NBC's World's Greatest Magic, Fox's Comic
Strip Live, HBO specials, and has appeared on Australian TV
specials and Thames Television's Magic Comedy Strip from London.
Around 1993, Jeff settled down for a long run in the Spellbound
show in Las Vegas. Happily golfing by day, and starting to raise
a family (total of five so far), Jeff became good friends with
Mark Kalin and Jinger when they signed on to star in Spellbound
in 1995.
Because Hobson's outrageous comedy magic worked so well with
Kalin & Jinger's magic, the trio set out to self-produce their
highly successful Before Your Very Eyes in Atlantic City.
Hobson's overwhelming success in that show led to an even
greater role in the production of the Carnival of Wonders show.
Because of his uncanny, chameleon-like sense of the absurd,
Hobson played six hilarious characters.
